About us
African non-Europhone heritage is not merely a theoretical critique of colonial frameworks—it is a living, community-driven project. Rooted in local value systems, languages, and ecological relations, it decentres Western heritage models by placing grassroots agency at the heart of cultural production. Rather than opposing state institutions, it repositions community-led initiatives as primary sites where memory, stewardship, and creativity converge. Drawing inspiration from movements like the Green Belt Movement, it treats heritage as an integrated practice of care, adaptation, and coexistence—recovering premodern ontologies not as relics, but as active resources for futurity. This is heritage done *from below*, as everyday action, not authorised discourse.
